Recommendations

Madrid, an amazing place for food and drinks

As you know us well, you also know that one of our favorite activities is enjoying food and drinks. And guess what? Madrid is the perfect place for this. Every time we arrive in Madrid, Sara’s family welcomes us with tapas, and we always make a quick stop at El Urogallo!

We’ve listed some of our favorite places here, but Madrid is big and full of amazing tapas bars and restaurants. We expect the weather to be good and sunny, so you can grab a cold beer on any terrace! If you’d like recommendations for a particular area, feel free to reach out to us.

  • El Urogallo Principe Pio (Sara’s neighborhood)
  • Restaurante Ferreiro (Sara’s neighborhood)
  • Restaurante El Molinón (Sara’s neighborhood)

And never hesitate to have a beer at Museo del Jamón.

Time for a break in Spain?

We chose the weekend of the wedding so that those traveling to Spain can make use of Ascension Day in the week after. We encourage you to take advantage of your time in Spain to explore Madrid or some of the other beautiful regions of this incredible country. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed various types of holidays in Spain, and we hope you’ll have the chance to experience its charm too.

Close to Madrid: If you’d like to stay nearby, Toledo and Segovia are great places to visit.

North of Spain: We often travel to the north of Spain and highly recommend visiting Asturias, Galicia, or the Basque Country. On your way, consider a tapas stop in León or a wine stop in the Rioja region.

South of Spain: This time of the year is perfect for visiting the south of Spain. We recommend exploring Córdoba, Seville, Granada, and the beaches near Cádiz.

Most cities are easily accessible from Madrid via high-speed trains. When we travel in Spain, we often enjoy staying at the beautiful Paradores—hotels located in historic monuments, often with excellent restaurants.
